Finance Minister, World Bank discuss strategic support for Ghana’s economic growth

The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has held a high-level meeting with the President of the World Bank Group, Mr. Ajay Banga, to strengthen Ghana’s partnership with the Bank and accelerate the country’s economic transformation.
The meeting, described as highly productive, focused on both ongoing World Bank–supported projects and new initiatives designed to fast-track Ghana’s growth agenda.
According to Dr. Ato Forson, discussions identified five strategic priority sectors where enhanced collaboration and investment from the World Bank would have the most significant impact: education, health, energy, roads, and agriculture.
“Together, we identified five priority areas that will deliver the greatest benefit to our people and help drive inclusive and sustainable development,” Dr. Forson noted.
He was accompanied by the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Asiama, and Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Victor Smith.
The Finance Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building stronger partnerships with the World Bank and other development partners to deliver tangible results for Ghanaians.
“Our collaboration with the World Bank remains a cornerstone of Ghana’s development strategy.
Together, we are committed to creating opportunities, empowering communities, and sustaining growth,” he said.
The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Finance to deepen international cooperation and mobilise support for Ghana’s medium-term economic recovery and transformation agenda.
