Ghana, Brazil deepen agricultural cooperation as Ambassador Namoale courts investment for livestock sector

Ghana’s Ambassador to Brazil, H.E. Nii Amasah Namoale, has held strategic discussions with Nutroeste Nutrição Animal, a leading Brazilian animal nutrition company, aimed at fostering foreign direct investment (FDI) in Ghana’s livestock and animal nutrition industry.
The high-level engagement focused on exploring areas of technical collaboration, capacity building, and sustainable livestock development, in line with Ghana’s economic transformation agenda under President John Dramani Mahama’s “Reset Agenda.”
According to Ambassador Namoale, the proposed partnership seeks to revolutionise Ghana’s livestock sector by leveraging Brazil’s advanced animal nutrition technologies to enhance productivity, strengthen food systems, and expand employment opportunities across the value chain.
“This partnership represents a new frontier for Ghana’s livestock industry.
By working with Brazilian experts, we will boost productivity, empower farmers, and promote environmentally responsible animal production,” he stated.
The discussions outlined several key objectives:
Transforming Ghana’s Livestock Sector: Utilising nutritional technology to stimulate growth and improve animal health.
Capacity Building: Facilitating knowledge transfer, technical training, and skill development for Ghanaian farmers and agricultural professionals.
Sustainable Production: Promoting eco-friendly and socially responsible livestock systems to safeguard the environment.
Food Security: Enhancing food availability and affordability through improved livestock yields and product quality.
Rural Development: Creating jobs and income opportunities for rural communities, particularly youth and women.
Bilateral Cooperation: Strengthening diplomatic and trade relations between Ghana and Brazil.
Ambassador Namoale emphasised that this initiative is consistent with Ghana’s vision of building a self-sufficient and resilient agricultural economy through innovation and international cooperation.
Executives of Nutroeste Nutrição Animal expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting Ghana’s strategic location, growing market potential, and commitment to sustainable agricultural development as key incentives for investment.
The collaboration is expected to lay the groundwork for joint ventures, technical exchange programmes, and pilot projects that will advance Ghana’s goal of achieving livestock self-sufficiency and rural economic transformation.
