NPA hosts second downstream compliance workshop to strengthen petroleum sector standards

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) is to host the second edition of its Downstream Compliance Workshop from May 12 to May 14, 2025, at the NPA Conference Auditorium in Accra, as part of efforts to deepen regulatory compliance and promote best practices within Ghana’s petroleum downstream sector.
The three-day workshop, scheduled from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM daily, will convene a wide range of industry stakeholders to engage in practical discussions aimed at improving standards, ensuring safety, and fostering greater accountability across the petroleum value chain.
Day One of the workshop will focus on Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketing Companies (LPGMCs).
Day Two will bring together Bulk Import, Distribution and Export Companies (BIDECs), refineries, storage and depot operators, and other allied facility providers.
Day Three will be dedicated to engagements with transport companies operating within the sector.
According to the NPA, the workshop forms part of its broader regulatory agenda to promote a shared understanding of compliance requirements and operational expectations among industry players.
It will also offer practical compliance tools and serve as a platform for dialogue on emerging challenges and opportunities within the sector.
The inaugural edition of the workshop was widely lauded for promoting stakeholder engagement and operational transparency.
The upcoming edition is expected to build on that success, further strengthening the collaborative relationship between regulators and operators.
“This initiative reflects the NPA’s commitment to maintaining a safe, efficient, and transparent downstream petroleum industry in Ghana,” the Authority stated.
The NPA anticipates that the workshop will serve as a key driver for sustained improvement in compliance and safety standards, ultimately contributing to the long-term stability and growth of the sector
