Parliamentary Select Committee on Labour commends industries for job creation

The Parliamentary Select Committee on Employment, Labour Relations, and Pensions has concluded a monitoring visit to selected industrial establishments in the Greater Accra Region as part of its oversight responsibilities.
The delegation, led by the Committee Chairman, Mr Joseph Appiah Boateng, visited Nutrifoods Ghana Limited, GHACEM Limited, and Nestlé Ghana Limited to assess their compliance with national labour standards and evaluate their contributions to employment creation, occupational safety, and overall industrial welfare.
During the visits, the Committee commended the companies for their significant roles in job creation, fair labour practices, and adherence to workplace safety protocols.
Mr. Appiah Boateng praised management teams for fostering positive labour–management relations and contributing to Ghana’s industrial and economic growth.
“Your contributions to employment generation and adherence to national labour standards are commendable.
We encourage you to continue upholding fair practices that promote the dignity and well-being of your workers,” the Chairman stated.
The Committee members, however, urged the companies to be more deliberate in promoting inclusivity, particularly in the recruitment of vulnerable groups and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).
They recommended that businesses create administrative and support roles suitable for such individuals, even when technical positions may not be accessible to them.
“Inclusion strengthens workplaces and communities. We encourage industries to lead by example by offering opportunities to all qualified citizens, regardless of physical limitations,” Mr. Appiah Boateng added.
The Committee reaffirmed Parliament’s commitment to strengthening collaboration between the public and private sectors to ensure decent work, fair treatment, and equal opportunities across all workplaces in Ghana.
