Ghana Party in the Park Temporarily Paused After Stampede Injures Several at ShattaFest UK
Organisers of the 2026 Ghana Party in the Park have announced the temporary suspension of the event after a stampede during Shatta Wale's ShattaFest UK segment left several people injured.
Police shut down the concert on public safety grounds after what an officer described as a major incident at the venue.
"There's been a massive accident - a stampede - which led to a lot of people getting hurt," the officer told patrons.
"For that reason, and for public safety, it has to be shut down."
The officer acknowledged that many attendees had travelled long distances and paid to attend the event.
"I appreciate a lot of people made a long journey, and paid some good money," he said, urging patrons to speak to organisers about refunds where necessary.
Another video seen by classfmonline.com captured the stampede at the entrance to the venue. The footage showed a crush of people in what appeared to be a concerning scene as attendees struggled to move through the entrance. Helpers were seen assisting patrons to safety.
The extent of the injuries has not yet been disclosed.
In a public safety notice issued afterwards, Akwaaba UK, organisers of Ghana Party in the Park, said the festival had been "temporarily paused" and urged the public not to travel to or come to the site until further notice.
The statement said emergency services and relevant authorities were managing the situation and appealed to everyone to stay away from the area to allow responders to carry out their work safely.
Organisers said further updates would be provided as more information becomes available.
The annual Ghana Party in the Park, this year featuring ShattaFest UK, was held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Copthall Playing Fields in London. The event was scheduled to run from 12 PM to 9 PM.
