Veteran Ghanaian Gospel musician Bernice Offei had been battling dementia for four to five years before her death, according to her former manager, Kwasi Ernest.

Speaking on Max TV, Mr Ernest said the condition affected her daily life and contributed to her disappearance from home.

“For four to five years, she had been battling dementia that affected her brain. When someone is sick with dementia, it affects the daily life of the person,” he explained.

He said Bernice Offei left home and was unable to find her way back.

“She left home, and the ailment was triggered, so she couldn’t locate her house. After the initial search by the family wasn’t yielding results, they made the search public, and they later found her,” he added.

Bernice Offei died on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the age of 63.

She had been reported missing on September 2, after she was last seen on September 1 around Nyaho-Tamakloe Street, Agbogba, in Accra.

Her family subsequently made the disappearance public and appealed for information to help locate her. She was later found.

Her death came 10 days after she was reported missing.
