Police shut down Shatta Wale’s UK 'Shattafest' concert after a near-fatal stampede
Police have shut down Shatta Wale's Shattafest UK 2026 concert after a stampede at the venue left several people injured.
Addressing patrons, a police officer said the event was being called off on public safety grounds following the incident.
"There's been a massive accident — a stampede — which led to a lot of people getting hurt," the officer said.
"For that reason, and for public safety, it has to be shut down."
The officer acknowledged that many attendees had travelled long distances and paid to attend the event.
"I appreciate a lot of people made a long journey, and paid some good money," he said, urging patrons to speak to organisers about refunds where necessary.
The extent of the injuries has not yet been disclosed.
