Rose Adjei – Secular artistes don’t ‘necessarily’ need to repent and become Gospel singers

“That fact that a person does a secular song does not make the person a sinner, and the fact that they do Gospel does not make them a Christian,” Gospel singer Rose Adjei has said.
She spoke to Nana Romeo on Okay FM, contending just because a song does not have “biblical content” did not make it automatically morally and spiritually unwholesome.
“There are a lot of secular artistes whose covenant with God is very strong,” she explained.
For this reason, she highlighted it was not right to compel secular artistes to switch music camps.
She underlined Gospel was simply a genre of music like Highlife.
Additionally, she said many music performers preferred secular over sacred music because of its wide appeal and commercial power, “and that’s not wrong”.
She identified “some secular [songs] give good advice, and talk about life, love – God is love”.
Rose observed Highlife star “Kofi Kinaata’s music is not profane – lyrically, you can see he sings wisdom”.
She defended her widely-known desire for a collaboration with Kinaata, saying it was “not bad”.
“Perhaps, I am fond of him because he’s Fante just like me. I see his life, his level of decency, he never has issues with anyone, he’s been able to build [a respected brand],” she added.
She posited God could seek to reach “people on the opposite side” through collaborations between Gospel and secular musicians.
She argued Jesus Christ was mostly concerned with sinners and not the righteous, and died for same, “and so if I do a song with a secular artiste, with good lyrical content, which makes sense [that should not be a problem]”.
“This is a way of pulling people to Christ,” she emphasised.
Rose Adjei stressed a collaboration with Kinaata would be “a plus for me, and Christiandom”.
