The former manager of late Ghanaian musician Terry Bonchaka says he felt the singer’s spirit enter his room shortly after the accident that claimed his life.

Speaking on the Classy Morning Show hosted by DJ Slim, he said the strange incident happened around 11:30 PM to 11:45 PM on Thursday, October 30, 2003.

He said he had been in his room and was about to sleep when he suddenly felt someone tap him on the shoulder.

According to him, he had earlier dreamt that he and others had travelled to Takoradi for a show and were involved in an accident while returning to Accra.

“When someone tapped me, I wondered, is God telling me that on the [planned] Kumasi trip, too, we may experience something like that?” he recounted.

He said he started praying for God to avert any evil, not knowing that Bonchaka had been involved in an accident while he prayed.

Bonchaka passed away in a car accident near the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange in Accra while returning home from a performance at the Akuafo Hall Week celebration at the University of Ghana (UG), Legon.

The former manager explained that Bonchaka and the group were expected to travel to Kumasi for a show after performing at the UG show. He said the plan was for the group to come to his house and pick him up before proceeding to Kumasi.

“The intention was to go to Reagan's house so immediately the accident happened, the spirit came into my room,” he said.

The experience, he said, has made him believe that spirits can appear after a person’s death.

“So, sometimes, when they say there are ghosts, I believe it,” he said.

Reagan, therefore, maintains that the actual date of Bonchaka’s death was October 30, although the singer was pronounced dead at the 37 Military Hospital shortly after midnight on the 31st.

He explained that Bonchaka went into a coma after the accident and was taken to the 37 Military Hospital at about 12 AM.

“When the doctors pronounced him dead at that time, the family and everybody were saying he died on 31st but I insisted on the 30th because of what I experienced and because the accident happened on the 30th, except that they delayed in getting him to 37 Military Hospital,” he said.

Terry Bonchaka was a charismatic Hiplife and Ragga star whose energetic performances, distinctive fashion, signature one-leg dance and death at the age of 21 left an enduring mark on Ghanaian music.

Class 91.3 FM's Classy Morning Show was commemorating the 23rd anniversary of the musician's passing.
