Asante Mampong kingsmakers present successor to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II
The Kingsmakers of the Asante Mampong Traditional Council have officially presented Mr. Leslie Osei Bonsu to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, as the successor to the late Paramount Chief of Asante Mampong, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II.
The customary introduction took place on December 18, 2025, in line with Asante traditions governing chieftaincy succession. The ceremony marks a significant step in the process leading to the enstoolment of a new paramount chief for the Asante Mampong Traditional Area.
The delegation of kingsmakers was led by key traditional authorities, including the Queen Mother of Asante Mampong, Nana Agyakoma Difie II, who played a central role in the customary presentation.
The introduction of a successor to the Asantehene is a critical requirement within the Asante chieftaincy system, as it signifies the formal acknowledgement of the nominee by the Golden Stool and the wider Asante Kingdom.
Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, whose passing created the vacancy, was a highly respected traditional ruler and statesman, and his successor is expected to continue his legacy of leadership and service to the people of Asante Mampong.
Further traditional rites are expected to follow as part of the processes toward the installation of the new paramount chief.
