Daasebre Osei Bonsu III swears oath of allegiance to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II
Daasebre Osei Bonsu III, the Asante Mamponghene, is set to swear the traditional oath of allegiance to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, today, Monday, January 19, 2026.
The solemn ceremony will take place at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi and is expected to attract paramount chiefs, traditional rulers, royal family members, and dignitaries from across the Asante Kingdom.
The swearing of the oath is a significant customary rite within the Asante traditional system, reaffirming loyalty to the Golden Stool and strengthening unity within the Asante Confederacy.
Daasebre Osei Bonsu III, as the occupant of the Mampong Stool, one of the most revered traditional seats in Asanteman, will formally reaffirm his allegiance to the Asantehene in accordance with long-standing customs and traditions.
The ceremony underscores the enduring authority of Asante traditional institutions and their role in preserving culture, unity, and leadership within the kingdom.
