GTA CEO enstooled as Safohen of Bentsir No. 1 Asafo group in Cape Coast
The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, has been enstooled and officially installed as the Safohen of the Bentsir No. 1 Asafo Company in Cape Coast, under the stool name Nana Efua Kouguah Nshiraba II.
The colourful traditional ceremony, held in Cape Coast, attracted hundreds of participants, including traditional leaders, government officials, tourism stakeholders, Asafo members, family, friends, and residents who gathered to witness the historic installation.
The event was marked by rich cultural displays, drumming, dancing, and Asafo rituals, showcasing the deep-rooted heritage of the Asafo institutions in the Central Region.
The installation of Nana Efua Kouguah Nshiraba II is seen as recognition of leadership and service, as well as a renewed call to promote community development, unity, and cultural preservation.
In her new role as Safohen of the Bentsir No. 1 Asafo Company, she is expected to provide leadership and guidance to the Asafo group, promote peace and cohesion among members, support community mobilisation, and contribute to development initiatives within the traditional area.
The position also places her as a custodian of Asafo values and traditions, with responsibility for preserving discipline, identity, and cultural continuity while strengthening the institution’s role in community development.
Speaking at the ceremony, dignitaries commended her leadership and contributions to public service, expressing confidence that her elevation would further boost efforts to promote Ghana’s culture and tourism.
The event was widely described as a vibrant celebration of Ghanaian identity, blending tradition, leadership, and cultural pride.
