Ebi Bright explains why she kept her marriage and children out of public eye
A resurfaced video of Tema Metropolitan Assembly Mayor, Ebi Bright, has sparked fresh conversations online after she opened up about her decision to keep her family life away from public attention.
This follows the revelation that she is married to the Majority Chief Whip in Parliament, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor.
Speaking at the Youth Development Summit organised by the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) Tema Metro in August 2025, Ebi Bright explained that she intentionally kept her marriage and children private to protect her family and preserve their peace.
According to her, she believed exposing her family to public scrutiny would have made it difficult for her to shield them from pressure and criticism that often come with public life.
“I determined that my marriage and my family, my children, were paramount. And I did not have what it took to protect my family if I thrust them into the public space. So I kept my marriage private. I kept my children private,” she said.
Ebi Bright also admitted that maintaining a low-profile personal life may have delayed her rise in politics and public service, but she was willing to make that sacrifice to protect her dignity and family values.
During her speech, Ebi Bright challenged young women to think carefully about their priorities, values, and the sacrifices they may have to make while building careers in public life
