The Black Stars of Ghana will face Wales in a pre-World Cup friendly on Tuesday, June 2, at Cardiff City Stadium.

This will be the first game in charge for new head coach Carlos Queiroz, giving him a key chance to test his tactics and preferred starting lineup just weeks before the 2026 tournament.

As they prepare for their fifth World Cup appearance, squad selection remains tight. Benjamin Asare is expected to start in goal after impressing recently, while Alexander Djiku may be rested due to fitness concerns.

A likely back four features Alidu Seidu and Baba Rahman at full-back, with Marvin Senaya and Abdul Mumin in central defence. Thomas Partey should anchor the midfield alongside energetic Kwesi Sibo, while Fatawu Issahaku and Antoine Semenyo provide width and attacking threat on the flanks.

Up front, captain Jordan Ayew is set to partner Prince Kwabena Adu in a two-striker system.

The match serves as an important test for Queiroz to assess his players and build team cohesion before one final warm-up game. 

Ghana is drawn in Group L with England, Croatia, and Panama, opening their campaign against Panama on June 17. With a good mix of experience and talent, there’s fresh optimism that the Black Stars can make a strong run in 2026.
