A/R: Police arrest 4 suspected armed robbers linked to Kunsu Highway attacks
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested four suspected armed robbers linked to a string of robbery attacks in Kunsu and its environs.
The suspects, identified as Yahaya 'Diamond' Siedu, 34; Atta 'Abodee/Stone' Israel, 32; Victor 'City Boy' Gyan, 26; and Stanley Wiafe 'Figo' Akanten, 30; were apprehended on Tuesday, January 21, 2026.
The arrests followed an intelligence-led operation conducted by the regional Anti-Robbery Unit in Kumasi, in collaboration with the Surveillance Unit of the National Operations Directorate in Accra.

Addressing a press conference today, Wednesday, January 28, 2026, in Kumasi, the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Osei Akoto Arthur, said the suspects recently targeted Kingsley Asare and three colleagues on the Kunsu-Mankranso road as they returned from a mining site.
The victims were stripped of their gold concentrate, cash, mobile phones, and a gun.
During a swoop conducted on January 21, 2016, at 10 PM in Kunsu, police searched the residence of Yahaya Siedu, where they uncovered a significant cache of weapons and evidence.
Recovered items included two pump-action guns, 22 BB cartridges, three cutlasses, five mobile phones, and GHS5,400 in cash.
He said one of the weapons, a Pardus shotgun, was identified as having been stolen during a separate highway robbery on December 7, 2025.
During interrogation, the four suspects admitted to operating as a specialised syndicate that specifically targeted miners for their gold concentrate and valuables.
The suspects are currently in police custody to assist with ongoing investigations into several other robbery cases within the Kunsu enclave.
DCOP Arthur assured the public of the police's unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and safety throughout the region.
