Former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has pushed back against criticism from within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), insisting that he will continue to speak out on issues of governance and accountability despite growing backlash from some party supporters.

His comments come in the wake of controversy surrounding his recent remarks on the stalled Afari Military Hospital project, where he faulted the previous NPP administration for failing to complete and operationalise the facility during its eight years in office.

Speaking on Net 2 TV, Agyapong rejected claims that his criticism was driven by personal grievances or disappointment over past political events. He maintained that his concerns are rooted in a commitment to national development and transparency.

According to him, attempts to portray him as bitter would not deter him from raising issues he believes are in the public interest.

Agyapong also questioned the progress of major government initiatives, including the Agenda 111 hospital programme, while making allegations of irregularities in the award and execution of public contracts.

He cautioned party members against dismissing his concerns, warning that continued attacks on his character could prompt him to disclose additional information about activities within the political establishment.

The former lawmaker further alleged that questionable practices in the awarding of public contracts are not limited to one political party, claiming that similar experiences have occurred across the political divide.

He argued that corruption remains a persistent challenge within Ghana's governance system and stressed that political leaders must be held accountable regardless of party affiliation.

Agyapong concluded by reaffirming his determination to speak openly on matters affecting the country's development, stating that he would not be intimidated into silence by criticism from either political opponents or members of his own party.
