DVLA signs MoU with TransAid and Scania to enhance driver training

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TransAid and Scania to introduce specialised training for applicants seeking licences in categories D and E.
The agreement follows months of collaboration to develop a comprehensive curriculum for the training and certification of drivers of long and heavy-duty vehicles.
Under the new arrangement, applicants for D and E licences will be required to undergo structured training and certification before being deemed qualified to operate such vehicles.
According to the DVLA, the initiative is designed to equip drivers with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to safely handle heavy-duty vehicles, with the ultimate goal of reducing road accidents and fatalities linked to such vehicles.
The partnership is expected to raise professional driving standards in Ghana and contribute to improved road safety nationwide.
