Dominion University to host groundbreaking media AI conference on July 31

The Institute of Competency-Based Education (ICBE) at Dominion University College is set to host its maiden Media AI Conference on Thursday, July 31, 2025, under the theme “Artificial Intelligence, Truth, and Media Innovation.”

The one-day conference, which will take place at the university’s Main Hall from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, is being organised in collaboration with the School of Computational Sciences and will officially mark the launch of Dominion University’s Certificate, Diploma, and Executive Programmes in Media AI.

As artificial intelligence continues to reshape the global media landscape, the event seeks to equip Ghanaian media professionals, content creators, educators, and students with practical skills and insight into cutting-edge AI tools for content creation, storytelling, editing, and fact-checking.

Speaking ahead of the event, the organisers emphasised that the conference will offer participants hands-on exposure to the latest AI technologies being used in journalism and content production, including tools for deepfake detection, AI scriptwriting, and automated editing.

The conference will also foster collaboration between media houses, tech innovators, and academia to explore how AI can be harnessed to enhance media innovation while upholding journalistic truth and ethical standards.

The conference aims to:

Officially launch the new Media AI academic and executive training programmes.

Increase awareness of AI tools and technologies in journalism and digital content creation.

Build the skills of media practitioners in AI-powered storytelling, fact-checking, and production.

Establish ICBE and Dominion University College as pioneers in AI-integrated media education in Ghana.

Organisers anticipate that the event will:

Boost AI literacy and practical skills among media professionals.

Facilitate enrolment into the university’s new Media AI programmes.

Strengthen partnerships between media organisations and the tech sector.

Lay the foundation for a national and continental community of practice for Media AI in Africa.
