El-Wak stampede: 6 dead out of 28 and 5 stable, GAF and 37 Military Hospital say
Commander of the 37 Military Hospital Brigadier General Evelyn Vivian Abraham-Kwabiah has set the record straight concerning the number of fatalities after the stampede at the El-Wak sports stadium.
She debunked the "erroneous information" that 12 souls had perished.
She said 28 casualties were brought to the hospital.
"Those who are dead are six, and not 12," she said firmly.
She said five out of the 28 were "critical" and receiving care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Additionally, she mentioned "12 who are fairly critical".
The rest, five individuals, she assured in her brief address to the press, were "stable".
Brigadier General Evelyn Vivian Abraham-Kwabiah spoke after the Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, standing to her right, said she was going "to address you on the details of the casualties in order to set the record straight".
