Fire ravages girls’ dormitory at Tolon SHS, 346 students displaced
A fire incident at Tolon Senior High School has left 346 female students without accommodation after a section of the school’s girls’ dormitory was destroyed.
The fire, which broke out around 7:20 a.m. on Monday, swept through the upper level of the dormitory block, damaging five dorm rooms in total. Of these, three rooms were occupied by students from Gbewaa House, while Furgurson House and Tolon-Naa House each lost one dormitory.

The incident has further strained the school’s already limited residential space, compounding existing overcrowding challenges and leaving many students temporarily displaced.
Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service were dispatched to the scene and were able to contain the blaze before it spread to other parts of the facility.
School management has indicated that investigations are ongoing to establish the origin of the fire, while assessments continue to determine the scale of destruction caused by the incident.
