John Paul Semavor urges Ghanaians to unite in the face of national tragedies

John Paul Semavor, a prominent member of the Volta National Democratic Congress (NDC) Regional Finance Committee, has called on Ghanaians to close ranks and stand together as one people in the wake of recent national tragedies.
Reflecting on a year marked by sorrow and loss, Mr Semavor described 2025 as a “deeply sobering” period for the country, noting that Ghana had endured moments that have shaken the nation’s collective spirit.
These include the passing of distinguished citizens who dedicated their lives to public service and the recent helicopter crash tragedy, which claimed multiple lives and left families and communities grieving.
“As a son of the Volta Region, I have witnessed the resilience of our people in moments like these,” he said. “The pain is real, but so is our capacity to stand together, comfort one another, and rise stronger.”
Mr Semavor extended his deepest condolences to all those affected, urging bereaved families to find strength in the love and solidarity of the wider Ghanaian community.
He stressed the need for national unity that transcended political and regional boundaries, reminding citizens that beyond party lines, Ghanaians shared a common destiny.
Drawing from his work with the Volta NDC Regional Finance Committee, he highlighted how unity could fuel action and transform challenges into progress.
“Let us honour those we have lost by building bridges instead of walls, by choosing understanding over division, and by committing ourselves to a Ghana where every citizen feels seen, valued, and supported,” he exhorted.
He urged Ghanaians to respond to adversity with compassion, solidarity, and a commitment to progress.
“We may not control the tragedies that come our way, but we can choose how we respond. Let us choose unity. Let us choose compassion. And let us choose progress together,” he urged, further.
