Local chop bar owner dead: Youth of Anloga hit the street demanding justice
In a peaceful demonstration, a vibrant youth, chiefs, queen mothers, and opinion leaders carried placards with different inscription walking through the principal street of Anloga demanding for justice for one Madam Dorcas Korkor Tettey.
A 54-year-old, Madam Korkor Tettey was the owner and operator of The Base chop bar.
She died in an alleged robbery attack while returning from church on Christmas Friday, December 28, 2024.
The protestors dressed in black and red attire, chanted as they invoked the wrath of local gods on the unknown assailants and called for an end to the violence in the area.
A youth leader, Mr Silas Aidam, who read a petition signed by Togbi Zewu IV 'Dufia of Anloga' on behalf of the aggrieved youth of Anloga, petitioned the police in the area to as a matter of urgency commence an investigation into the unfortunate death of Madam Korkor Tettey, who was popular for her benevolence.
“On Saturday 28 December 2024, the deceased was found dead in her bedroom, which is attached to the popular restaurant after she returned from church service at Kportorgboe.
“There were signs that indicated that she was killed by attempted robbers,” he noted.
Mr Aidam described the deceased as a generous woman who won the heart of many through her care and love, noting her untimely death was a great loss to Anloga and its environs, especially the family, friends and customers.
“We the youth of Anloga are demanding that a thorough and impartial investigation be launched to bring the culprits to book to face the full vigorous of the law,” Aidam emphasised.
“The police should ensure the family, loved ones of Madam Dorcas Korkor Tettey are protected and supported in any way they deserve.”
Speaking to the media, some residents said they were living in a state of fear and demanded for justice and an end to killings in the area.
Meanwhile, police were present during the protest, ensuring it was peaceful. They, also, received the petition from the aggressive youth and promised to arrest the perpetuators.
The police urged the youth and residents to be calm as they launched their investigation, and ensured the total safety of the residents and the family of the deceased.
