The Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has disclosed that more than 2,000 kilometres of roads are currently under construction at various stages across the country to advance the government's infrastructure development agenda.

Speaking at a citizens’ engagement event held at Ndewura Jakpa Senior High School in the Savannah Region on Saturday, May 23, Agbodza outlined ongoing efforts by the administration of President John Dramani Mahama to improve the national road network and address persistent infrastructure challenges.

During the presentation, Agbodza contested prior claims made by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo regarding the total road infrastructure completed during the eight-year tenure of the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

He argued that assertions indicating nearly 18,000 kilometres of roads were completed under the Akufo-Addo government do not align with the actual records available within the roads sector.

The sector minister stated that there is insufficient evidence to substantiate the former president’s claims about completed road projects, stating that records do not show the previous administration starting and completing 100 kilometres of roads.

In contrast, Agbodza asserted that President Mahama would go down in history for completing 2,000 kilometres of roads.
