Sam George announces reduction in MTN fibre broadband prices
The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam George, has announced reductions in the prices of MTN Ghana’s fibre broadband packages.
In a social media post on Wednesday, the minister said discussions between the government and MTN Ghana had led to lower prices for unlimited fibre broadband services.
According to him, customers who previously paid GH¢987 for a one-month unlimited 100 Mbps package will now pay GH¢299.
Under the new pricing structure, a 300 Mbps unlimited package will cost GH¢444 per month, while a 500 Mbps unlimited package will be available for GH¢999 per month.
Mr George said the reductions were in response to calls for more affordable broadband services.
“You demanded. We engaged. MTN Ghana has responded,” he wrote.
The minister thanked the management and staff of MTN Ghana for responding to concerns about the affordability and reliability of broadband services.
He added that the ministry would continue to engage telecommunications companies to improve service delivery and make internet services more affordable for consumers.
MTN Ghana is yet to issue a detailed statement on the revised broadband packages.
