The United States Embassy in Accra will suspend most routine consular services from 20 July to 31 July 2026 to allow for scheduled maintenance at its facilities.

The temporary suspension will affect routine visa services and most services for U.S. citizens.

The embassy said applicants with existing appointments during the period will be contacted directly with information on rescheduling. Emergency consular services will continue to be available.

Adult passport renewals submitted through the embassy's drop box will continue to be processed, while applicants notified that their passports or Consular Reports of Birth Abroad are ready may collect them on Thursdays between 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Normal consular services are expected to resume on 3 August 2026. The embassy has advised the public to plan accordingly and monitor its website for updates.
