We have been married for 11 years, my wife had never been pregnant-Husband
The husband of the suspect in the alleged baby theft at Mamprobi Polyclinic in the Greater Accra Region has disclosed that he has been married to his wife for eleven years without any prior issues in their relationship.
According to the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, the husband made this revelation when she visited their residence at Abossey Okai Zongo in the Greater Accra Region to sympathise with the family.
Speaking on Accra-based Citi FM on Wednesday, the Minister recounted that the husband said he had been married to the suspect, Latifa Salifu, for the past eleven years and that the couple had not been blessed with a child during that period.
Per the husband’s narration, the Minister indicated that the woman had been desperate to have a child, a situation that may have contributed to her alleged actions.
The case involves the alleged abduction of a four-day-old baby belonging to Precious Ankomah and husband, Mohammed Kwame Agyemang, from the Mamprobi Polyclinic.
Madam Lartey noted that, given the emotional toll of childlessness over the years, a psychologist would be engaged to provide the suspect with professional support to address possible trauma associated with the situation.
