Cocaine

Sacks of gari and konkonte destined for export from Tema Port turned out to be concealing something else entirely: 866 parcels of a white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine.

Police uncovered the consignment during an intelligence-led operation at about 8 pm on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

The discovery led to the arrest of three suspects — a Dutch national and two Ghanaians — who, according to sources close to the operation speaking to Graphic Online's Benjamin Xornam Glover, were caught supervising workers loading the sacks into a 40-foot container at a warehouse within the Tema Port enclave.

The truck used in the operation, along with the suspects and the intercepted parcels, has been taken into police custody as investigations continue.
