The High Court in Accra has adjourned the case involving former Buffer Stock CEO Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba and his wife, Faiza Seidu Wuni, to August 17, 2026, after lawyers for the accused persons failed to appear in court.

The first accused person, Hanan Abdul-Wahab stated that his lawyer, Godfred Yeboah Dame, is unwell and is currently on admission.

However, Counsel for the Republic, Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, argued that the absence of the lead counsel for the first accused was not based on ill health as communicated.

According to the Deputy Attorney-General, counsel for Hanan had previously informed the court that he would not be available during the legal vacation and had subsequently petitioned the Chief Justice over the matter.

Counsel for the second accused, Augustine Obuor was also absent due to ill health as stated by the second accused person Faiza Wuni.

Dr Srem-Sai argued if counsel’s ill health was to be relied upon as a reason for his absence, the court ought to have been provided with medical evidence.

Hanan said he had received a copy of the application for stay of proceedings filed at the Court of Appeal which is scheduled to be heard on October 19, and, therefore, pleaded with the court for a long adjournment to allow the appellate proceedings to take their course.

The presiding judge adjourned the case to August 17, for counsel for the first accused to appear and address the court on the pending application for the stay of proceedings.
