EOCO to arraign lawyer Baffour Awuah before weekend court; dismisses GH¢50m bail reports
The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has dismissed media reports alleging that it has granted a GH¢50 million bail to suspect Nana Baffour Agyei Awuah, revealing that steps are underway to bring him before a weekend court.
In an official news release issued on Friday, October 2, 2026, EOCO clarified that investigative proceedings remain ongoing following Awuah’s voluntary surrender on Thursday, October 1, at 10:00 a.m.
According to the Office, the suspect is currently cooperating as investigators carry out the necessary procedural, operational, and investigative processes.
Addressing speculation regarding his release, EOCO emphasized that it is working in conjunction with the Office of the Attorney-General to present the suspect in court over the weekend to comply with legal deadlines.
"Mindful of the applicable constitutional timeframes and procedural requirements governing bail, the Office is fervently working with the Office of the Attorney-General to bring the Suspect before a weekend court," the statement read.
The investigative body strongly cautioned the public against relying on unverified claims surrounding the case.
"The Office also wishes to urge the public to disregard media reports that the Office has granted the Suspect a GHC50 million bail," EOCO added.
The statement was issued by the Head of Corporate Affairs and Public Education on behalf of the Executive Director of EOCO.
