GH¢500,000 Debt Dispute: Suspect killing two relatives at Sakumono arrested
A man suspected of shooting and killing two relatives at Sakumono in Accra has been arrested after allegedly fleeing the scene of a dispute over a GH¢500,000 debt.
The Ghana Police Service announced on Sunday, November 1, 2026, that Samuel Osei Anto Christopher, who had been on the run since the incident, was arrested at his hideout.
“The key suspect in the Sakumono murder case, Samuel Osei Anto Christopher, who was on the run, has been arrested from his hideout. Full details will be communicated,” the Police said in a brief update.
Preliminary police investigations suggest that the killings of 57-year-old George Atubiga and his 47-year-old niece, Irene Atubiga, may have resulted from a financial dispute involving the suspect.
According to the Police, George had allegedly borrowed GH¢500,000 from Osei Anto Christopher but had failed to repay the amount.
The suspect reportedly visited the victims' residence at NTHC Estate, Sakumono, on the morning of Friday, October 30, accompanied by a woman identified as Beatrice Mumuni, 47, to demand repayment.
A misunderstanding allegedly ensued during the encounter, after which the suspect reportedly shot and killed George and Irene.
Police officers who responded to information about the incident found the two victims lying in pools of blood. They were rushed to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Their bodies were subsequently deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Female accomplice arrested
Following the incident, the Police arrested Beatrice Mumuni, who was allegedly with the suspect when he visited the victims' residence.
She was suspected of leading Osei Anto Christopher to the residence before the shooting.
The Police subsequently declared the principal suspect wanted and announced a GH¢100,000 reward for credible information leading to his arrest.
His arrest on Sunday ends the manhunt, although the Police are yet to provide further details about the circumstances of his capture.
Who were the victims?
Irene Atubiga was the Chief Executive Officer of Kussa Shea Bliss, a company specialising in shea butter-based skincare and personal care products.
She was also a mother of two young boys, according to tributes and information shared by people close to her following her death.
The Police are expected to communicate further details about the suspect's arrest.
