NACOC confirms arrest of Syrian national with 40kg suspected cocaine in Beirut
The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has confirmed the arrest of a Syrian national at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut, Lebanon, following his arrival from Accra, Ghana, with approximately 40 kilogrammes of suspected cocaine.
The suspect was arrested on Saturday, October 31, 2026, with the substance concealed in two pieces of luggage.
In a statement, NACOC said the arrest resulted from a coordinated controlled delivery exercise involving Ghanaian and Lebanese drug law enforcement authorities.
The Commission said the operation was aimed at identifying and apprehending targets at both ends of the supply chain while gathering intelligence to dismantle the wider transnational criminal syndicate behind the shipment.
NACOC said it was working to arrest the suspect's accomplices in Ghana.
It described the operation as evidence of the collaborative commitment of Ghana and Lebanon to disrupting international drug trafficking networks through cross-border intelligence-sharing.
