The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspects following investigations into the kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old Nana Yaw Kyere, who was reported missing on September 22, 2026.

The suspects, Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams, and Josiah Obodai, were taken into custody by the Missing Persons Unit.

According to preliminary police investigations, the victim left his residence at Kokomlemle in Accra on September 19, 2026, driving his Honda Civic vehicle, and failed to return home.

Investigations established that the victim was lured to Philip Tefe's residence at Teshie Agbleza by Sarah Osei Adams. Both suspects subsequently confessed to their involvement in the crime.

"Both suspects later confessed to their involvement and indicated that suspect Philip Tefe attacked the victim during a confrontation and hit him with a metallic object, causing him to sustain injuries," stated Deputy Superintendent of Police Richmond Mensah, Staff Officer at the Public Affairs Directorate. "The victim was then moved to another room where he was left unattended to and later died."

Police further revealed that on September 20, 2026, the victim's body was transported in a Kia Morning vehicle to a location near the motorway, where it was dumped in a bush and set ablaze. The partially burnt body was discovered at Community 18 on September 21, 2026, and was later identified by the victim's biological mother and uncle at the Police Hospital morgue on September 24, 2026.

In the course of the investigation, police retrieved the victim's stolen iPhone 12, which Tefe allegedly sold for GH¢ 100.00. The buyer, Sunday Omeje, has been cautioned and detained for dishonestly receiving the property.

Subsequent investigative leads resulted in the arrest of Josiah Obodai regarding the disposal of the body. Authorities have impounded a Kia Morning vehicle owned by Obodai's father, which is believed to have been used to transport the deceased.

"The three suspects are currently in Police custody and will be put before the court as investigations continue to identify and arrest other persons who may have been involved in the case," DSP Mensah confirmed.
