Release Sedina Tamakloe immediately - Volta Speaks
The Volta Youth Alliance (Volta Speaks, Accra) has called for the immediate release of former Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) Chief Executive Sedina Christine Tamakloe, following her acquittal and discharge by the Court of Appeal.
In a statement issued on Saturday, August 2, the group condemned what it described as the injustice perpetrated against Ms Tamakloe and urged the courts to determine any further proceedings strictly on the evidence, the law and the interests of justice, free from political influence or public pressure.
It maintained that Ms Tamakloe should remain a free person unless proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
VOLTA SPEAKS CONDEMNED INJUSTICE PERPETRATED AGAINST SEDINA TAMAKLOE AND CALL FOR HER IMMEDIATE RELEASE FROM PRISON CUSTODY
Volta Youth Alliance (Volta Speaks, Accra) respectfully call on the courts to give full and careful consideration to the legal and constitutional issues raised in the appeal involving Madam Sedina Christine Tamakloe.
The appeal raises important questions concerning the constitutional right to a fair trial, the prosecution's burden to prove every criminal allegation beyond reasonable doubt, and whether the charges complied with the requirements of the law.
These are fundamental safeguards that protect every Ghanaian and strengthen confidence in our justice system.
We therefore believe that if the Court finds that the prosecution did not meet the required legal standard or that any material procedural irregularities affected the fairness of the trial, the appropriate remedy should be granted in accordance with the Constitution and the laws of Ghana, including setting aside any affected convictions.
At the same time, we respect the constitutional role of the Attorney-General to pursue appeals and defend the Republic's case however justice must be ensured. We urge that every appeal be determined strictly on the evidence, the law and the interests of justice, free from political influence or public pressure.
Justice must always be fair, impartial and rooted in the Constitution. That is the surest way to preserve public confidence in Ghana's democratic institutions.
On the above note, Madam Sedina Christine Tamakloe must be allowed to walk away a free person as she has been acquitted and discharged by the appellate court until she is proven guilty beyond all reasonable doubts.
Signed
VOLTA YOUTH ALLIANCE (VOLTA SPEAKS, ACCRA)
