Two men remanded over murder of 15-year-old housekeeper in Aduman
The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has arrested two men in connection with the brutal killing of a 15-year-old housekeeper at Aduman in the Kodie Municipality.
The suspects, identified as Sani Abacha, 28, and Asante Eric, 23, were arraigned before the Kodie Magistrate Court on October 28, 2025, on provisional charges of robbery and murder.
They have since been remanded into prison custody and are expected to reappear in court on November 25, 2025.
Police investigations indicate that the incident occurred on Sunday, October 19, 2025, after a resident of Aduman Old Town returned home from Kumasi to discover that his tricycle and two housekeepers, Kwabena Yankyira, 18, and Kwabena Boateng, 15, were missing.
A statement from the police on October 30 revealed that Abacha allegedly plotted to steal the tricycle and tricked the two boys into helping him transport firewood from his farm.
Once in a secluded area, he reportedly attacked them with a cutlass and fled with the vehicle.
Further investigations showed that Abacha later contacted Eric, and together they hid the stolen tricycle at the Aboabogya Cemetery before selling it to another man identified only as Balawe, who is currently on the run.
The following morning, residents found Yankyira unconscious on a nearby cocoa farm with multiple cutlass wounds to his neck and head.
He was rushed to St. Patrick’s Hospital at Maase-Offinso for treatment.
Shortly after, the body of Boateng was discovered in the same area with similar injuries.
Police retrieved a cutlass believed to have been used in the attack and deposited the deceased’s body at St. Patrick’s Hospital morgue for autopsy and preservation.
Abacha was arrested on October 24, 2025, at Asafo Tinkamu following an intelligence-led operation and later led officers to the arrest of Eric at Aboabogya.
Both suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement during interrogation.
The police say efforts are ongoing to locate Balawe and recover the tricycle.
The Ashanti North Regional Command has also urged the public to share any information that may assist in the arrest by contacting the nearest police station or calling 191, 18555, or 112.
