Education Ministry signs MoU with QG Construction UK for green technology institute at UEAS
The Ministry of Education has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with QG Construction UK Limited for the establishment of an Institute of Green and Sustainable Science and Technology at the Acherensua Campus of the University of Engineering and Agricultural Sciences (UEAS), Bunso.
The proposed institute is expected to become a centre of excellence for practical learning, industry collaboration, and applied research, supporting Ghana’s transition to a green economy and sustainable development.
It will also position UEAS as a key hub for innovation in science, technology, and sustainability.
Under the agreement, the institute will focus on strengthening research, training, and innovation in areas such as green technology, climate-smart agriculture, and sustainable engineering.
The initiative is aimed at equipping students with relevant skills and competencies needed to meet the demands of Ghana’s emerging green economy.
The Minister for Education, Mr Haruna Iddrissu, said the partnership reflects the government’s commitment to aligning tertiary education with national development priorities, particularly in the areas of environmental sustainability, technological advancement, and job creation.
According to him, the institute is expected to foster strong linkages between academia and industry, encourage the development of practical solutions to environmental challenges, and contribute to the training of a new generation of professionals equipped to drive Ghana’s sustainable future.
