President John Dramani Mahama has commissioned the Mahama ICT Centre in Damongo, describing it as a key support facility for the government’s Basic Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (BSTEM) programme.

According to a Facebook post by the Presidency, Mr Mahama said the centre will promote practical learning in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, with a focus on information and communications technology.

He said the facility was launched at an important time following the rollout of the BSTEM programme in the region and is expected to improve opportunities for students and young people to build digital and technical skills.

President Mahama also noted that the ICT centre is fully powered by solar energy, describing it as a “green lab” aligned with sustainable development goals.

The centre is expected to function as a hub for ICT training and innovation in the Savannah Region, supporting efforts to expand access to technology-based education.

The commissioning was part of the President’s activities during his “Resetting Ghana” tour of the Savannah Region.
