A concerned member of the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UNIMAC) branch of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN), Stephen Kenneth Nakujah, has petitioned the chapter and regional executives over the alleged withholding of results from the chapter’s presidential election.

In the petition dated September 29, 2026, Mr Nakujah said information had reached him that the results of the just-ended UNIMAC-TEIN presidential election had been withheld for what he described as “mischievous reasons”.

He said if the information was true, the development should not be entertained and called for the will of delegates to be respected.

“The verdict of the students as expressed through the ballot box is sacrosanct, and any attempt to use other means to overturn it is totally unacceptable,” he said.

Mr Nakujah said he was closely monitoring developments surrounding the election and cautioned against the use of what he described as “mischievous technicalities” that were not supported by the Legislative Instrument (L.I.) used for the elections.

He petitioned the Regional Commander and the regional executives to urgently intervene to resolve the issue.

“We hereby petition the Regional Commander and his Executives to urgently intervene and help fix this problem before UNIMAC-TEIN is plunged into apathy in the coming days,” he said.

Mr Nakujah also called for the protection of the electoral process.

“The sanctity of our democracy must be protected,” he said.
