The University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) has launched its first Corporate Strategic Plan, setting the roadmap for the university’s growth from 2026 to 2030.

Speaking at the launch at the South Legon Campus, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Eric Opoku Mensah said the plan marks a milestone since the university’s merger in 2020.

UniMAC now runs 7 faculties and 16 departments across three constituent institutes, with 5,212 students enrolled for the 2026 intake and 495 staff.

The five-year plan is built around 9 thematic areas aimed at strengthening academic excellence, research, digital transformation, and institutional sustainability.

Key areas include:UniMAC launches first corporate strategic plan to drive growth and innovation in 2026-2030

3. Infrastructure and Digital Transformation: Developing lecture halls, a multimedia hub, e-learning centre, and completing the ultra-modern auditorium at East Legon.

4. Human Resource Development: Improving staff welfare, training, and mental health support.

5. Financial Sustainability: Diversifying income through PPP hostels, business units, and enrolment growth.

Prof. Mensah said a Strategic Plan Implementation Committee led by Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Winston Abroampa will oversee execution, with faculties and departments developing annual action plans and key performance indicators.

He called on management, staff, students, and alumni to own the plan and contribute to making UniMAC competitive in media, arts, and communication education.

“UniMAC is the place where dreams take flight and creativity, innovation, and academic excellence converge,” Prof. Mensah said.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Prof. Dzisah said the plan goes beyond a document to represent a shared vision that will shape UniMAC’s future direction.

He stressed that universities do not become centers of excellence by accident but through deliberate planning, discipline, and collective commitment.

Formed from the merger of institutions with strong backgrounds in media, communication, and language studies, UniMAC is at a critical stage where clear direction, strong governance, and long-term planning are essential, he said.

Prof. Dzisah noted that the global higher education landscape is rapidly changing with technology and artificial intelligence reshaping communication and creative industries.

He said the strategic plan will serve as UniMAC’s roadmap and guide for responding to national and global changes.

He emphasized that the plan’s success depends on collective ownership and implementation by faculty, staff, students, alumni, industry partners, government, and development partners.
