V/R: Headmaster for Sokode SHTS appeals for furniture, beds, staff accommodation
The Headmistress of Sokode Secondary Technical School (STS) in the Ho municipality of the Volta region, Isaac Kofi Dzidzienyo, has appealed for urgent intervention to address critical challenges facing the school, notably the lack of furniture, beds and staff accommodation.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Solomon Ahiable, he emphasised the pressing need for furniture and students beds to support the academic progress of students who commuted from far outside the municipality and the region.
“We have students who come from far and wide, and as a day and boarding school, we really need furniture and other amenities to support their academic progress,” he said, highlighting the vulnerability of commuting students.
He noted that the school had a beautiful dining hall edifice which had no furniture for the students. He cited there were not enough beds for the boarding students in the various dormitories, too.
The headmaster drew attention to the lack of staff accommodation, noting that only two teachers were on campus supervising a thousand students.
Mr Dzidzienyo also appealed for a vocational and technical lab for vocational and technical training, the lack of which was affecting teaching and learning.
He said though the management of the school was doing its internal arrangements, there was need for support from government and other institutions.
Meanwhile, the school has opened 500 slots for new admissions but as at today, Thursday, October 23, 2025, only 200 reported.
