Asantehene reports calm in Bawku following mediation

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has announced that ongoing peace efforts in the Bawku conflict have led to a period of relative calm in the area.
Otumfuo, who is serving as the lead mediator in the dialogue between the Kusasi and Mamprusi communities, held a series of meetings with representatives from both factions between April 28 and April 30.
While the talks are currently on hold, he expressed hope for their resumption soon.
Speaking during a meeting with the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, at the Manhyia Palace on Monday, May 12, 2025, the Asantehene said significant progress had been made.
“We are still working on the issue, and we will reconvene to continue the discussions.
Though we are not finished, the progress made so far has brought some peace to the area.
We will update you and the nation shortly,” he stated.
