A violent confrontation during the Kpokpoi sprinkling ceremony of the Homowo Festival in Teshie has left three young men dead, sending shockwaves through the community and prompting urgent calls for peace and justice.

The deadly incident unfolded when two rival groups, known as Ofite and 50 Cent, crossed paths while jogging from opposite directions in the town.

What began as a chance encounter quickly escalated into chaos, with gunfire, stones, and bottles exchanged between the factions.

The violence resulted in the tragic deaths of three young men.

In the aftermath, the Teshie Traditional Council, led by Paramount Chief Gbetsoolo Nii Ashitey Akomfra III, issued a strong condemnation of the violence.

Addressing the media, the Paramount Chief expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and called for unity among the people of Teshie.

“Let the pain of these tragic murders bind us together as one people with a common destiny,” the Council’s statement read, extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.

The Municipal Security Council has launched an investigation into the incident, while the police are considering further measures, including an injunction on all remaining public festival events, to prevent additional violence.

The Assembly Member for the Okesekor Electoral Area has appealed for calm, assuring residents that justice will be served and those responsible will be held accountable.

In a decisive move to restore order, the Accra High Court, Criminal Division, has placed an injunction on all outdoor and public activities related to the festival for the remainder of its duration, with the exception of traditional rites.
