Kpeve headworks pump shaft breaks down again, leaving residents stranded

For the third time in a month, the Kpeve Headworks of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has suffered a breakdown, disrupting water supply to residents.
The facility, which experienced a similar fault earlier this year, was shut down for nearly two weeks before being repaired.
However, within a week of resuming operations, the pump shaft broke down again, compounding the water crisis in the affected communities.
Speaking on Ho FM’s Adanu Morning Show, Ing. Ransford Nii Gyan Amoo, Production Manager of GWCL, described the situation as unfortunate but assured residents that efforts were underway to restore the water supply.
He disclosed that the shaft broke down again yesterday, prompting the GWCL Head Office to deploy a team to assess and resolve the issue.
"During the initial breakdown, some experts suggested consulting the Ho Technical University for assistance.
However, we are yet to make that contact," Ing. Amoo stated.
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Ho Central, Edem Richmond Kofi Kpotosu, has engaged national security and other stakeholders to help resolve the crisis.
He urged residents to remain patient as authorities work to find a lasting solution.
"We understand the inconvenience this has caused, and I want to assure residents that we are actively working with relevant agencies to restore water supply as soon as possible," the MP said.
