Kwahu West fire commander warns of rising accidents on Accra–Nkawkaw–Kumasi road

The Kwahu West Municipal Fire Commander, DO II Samuel Mante, has expressed concern over the alarming number of accidents occurring on the Accra–Nkawkaw–Kumasi highway.
Speaking to the media, Commander Mante revealed that within just one week, one person lost their life and more than 50 others sustained injuries in separate incidents along the stretch.
He urged motorists, particularly those driving at night, to exercise extreme caution to help curb the trend.
The Accra–Nkawkaw road has long been notorious for accidents, with contributing factors including poor road conditions, excessive speeding, driver fatigue, and poorly maintained vehicles.
Commander Mante stressed the need for:
Regular vehicle maintenance to ensure roadworthiness
Training drivers in defensive driving techniques
Upgrading road infrastructure and installing streetlights to improve visibility at night
He also cited a recent accident at Nkawkaw Oframase as an example of the urgent need for action, warning that without swift intervention, the casualty rate could worsen.
