Scaffold collapse at Ridge Hospital damages vehicles, no injuries reported
A scaffold installed at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Ridge, has collapsed, causing damage to several vehicles but recording no injuries, hospital authorities have confirmed.
The incident occurred on April 26, 2026, at the hospital’s staff car park, where the structure had been erected as part of ongoing renovation and facelift works being undertaken by a contractor.
In an official press release issued on the same day, management indicated that preliminary assessments suggest the collapse was triggered by strong winds, which led to the structure giving way and damaging vehicles parked nearby.
“Fortunately, no injuries were recorded,” the statement emphasized, reassuring staff, patients, and the general public of safety within the facility.
The hospital further disclosed that it is working closely with the contractor responsible for the project to assess the full extent of the damage. Engagements are also ongoing with affected vehicle owners to address their concerns and determine appropriate remedial actions.
Management has urged the public to remain calm as a full investigation is conducted to establish the exact cause of the incident and to guide future safety measures during ongoing works.
