Korle-Bu begins process to install elevator for Dental Department with DACF support
The Chief Executive Officer of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr Yakubu Seidu Adam, has officially handed over the designated site for the commencement of works on the installation of an elevator for the Dental Department, marking a major step toward improving access to healthcare services.
The project is being funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) and is aimed at enhancing accessibility for patients with mobility challenges, the elderly, pregnant women and hospital staff.
Speaking at the brief handing-over ceremony, Dr Adam expressed his sincere appreciation to the DACF for its continued support, noting that the elevator would significantly improve patient comfort and safety while easing the physical burden on healthcare workers.
According to him, the facility will also enhance emergency response, particularly in situations where the rapid movement of patients is critical.
A representative of the District Assembly, Mr Edmund Asare, reaffirmed the DACF’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery across the country.
He explained that the project reflects the Fund’s dedication to improving public health infrastructure and promoting inclusive and disability-friendly healthcare services.
The project contractor, Mr Yawson Otoo, of Lifts and Elevators Limited Company, assured hospital management of his team’s readiness to begin work immediately.
He pledged to execute the project in line with approved specifications and complete the installation within the agreed four-month timeframe.
The project aligns with national health and infrastructure development goals and is expected, upon completion, to greatly improve patient movement within the hospital, enhance emergency response, and support efficient healthcare delivery.
The ceremony was witnessed by several hospital officials and stakeholders, including the Director of Medical Affairs, Dr Frank Owusu Sekyere; Acting Director of General Services, Mrs Cynthia Gyakye; Head of New Allied Surgery, Dr Kenneth Baidoo; Head of the Dental Unit, Dr Matthew Boamah; Head of Public Relations, Mr Mustapha Salifu; Dr Kafui Searyoh; Dr Mary N.
