Volta Region confirms two Mpox cases

The Volta Regional Health Directorate of the Ghana Health Service has confirmed two cases of Mpox in the region.
The cases involve a 35-year-old man from the Ketu North Municipality and a 33-year-old woman from the Ho Municipality. According to health officials, both patients are in stable condition and responding well to treatment.
In response to the confirmed cases, the Regional Health Directorate, in collaboration with the affected district health offices, has intensified measures to curb the potential spread of the virus.
All health facilities, district directorates, and port health units across the region have been directed to step up disease surveillance and public education on Mpox.
Speaking to Class News, Mr. Courage Dogbe, a Senior Public Health Officer, confirmed the cases and assured the public that there is no cause for alarm.
He emphasised that health teams are actively monitoring the situation and are well-prepared to manage any potential risks.
Health authorities are encouraging the public and healthcare workers to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspected Mpox symptoms.
They reiterated the importance of early detection and swift response to prevent further transmission.
