Accept any gifts presented by NDC ahead of Ayawaso East by-election -MP
The Member of Parliament for Weija Gbawe, Mr Ahmed Shaibu, has urged voters in Ayawaso East to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Yussif Baba Ali, in the upcoming March 3 by-election.
Speaking to constituents, Mr Shaibu encouraged residents to accept campaign materials and gifts from political parties but emphasised using their votes strategically.
He described the by-election as an opportunity for the electorate to express their preferences and ensure leadership that aligns with the community’s needs.
Mr Shaibu highlighted qualities he believes voters should seek in candidates, including transformational leadership, reliability, unity, and strong ethical and spiritual values.
He commended Baba Ali for maintaining close ties with the community and addressing its concerns consistently.
The legislator also praised NDC delegates for exercising their right to elect candidates of their choice in the recent primary.
He urged residents to consider current dynamics within the ruling party when casting their ballots, presenting the by-election as a chance for change.
During his remarks, Mr Shaibu criticised aspects of the NDC’s internal processes, including allegations of candidate manipulation and the use of incentives to influence delegates, though no formal investigation into these claims has been reported.
