Deputy Defence Minister announces replacement enlistment slots for families of El-Wak tragedy victims
Deputy Minister of Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi, has revealed that the families of persons who lost their lives in Wednesday’s tragic military enlistment stampede at the El-Wak Sports Stadium will receive replacement recruitment slots into the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
Mr. Genfi disclosed this when he joined the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, on a visit to Mankessim to commiserate with the family of one of the deceased.
He stated that the directive was issued by President John Dramani Mahama as part of the government’s measures to compensate the affected families and help restore hope after the incident.
Assuring the bereaved relatives of the state’s unwavering support, the Deputy Minister noted that the government would stand with them before, during and after the burial of their daughter.
He added that all required assistance would be provided to help them through this difficult period.
