Five candidates have successfully filed their nominations to contest the Ayawaso East parliamentary by-election slated for March 3, following the death of the area’s Member of Parliament, Mahama Naser Toure.

The candidates are Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Baba Ali Yusif of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ibrahim Iddrisu of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), and two independent contenders, David Kanor and Umar Sanda Mohammed.

Speaking to the media, the EC’s Greater Accra Regional Director, Gladys Penkrah, announced that balloting to determine the candidates’ positions on the ballot paper will be held today, Thursday, February 13.

“We will do the balloting today to determine the positions of the candidates,” she said.
