Residents of the Kpone Katamanso Constituency in the Greater Accra Region have benefited from a comprehensive Free Skills and Capacity Building Programme sponsored by Honourable Abraham Aidoo, the independent aspiring Member of Parliament for Kpone Katamanso.

The initiative, which focused on entrepreneurship and small-scale manufacturing, was designed to equip participants with practical, income-generating skills to promote economic independence within the constituency.

The training provided hands-on instruction in the production, packaging, and scaling of everyday consumer products with strong market demand.

Participants were trained to produce items such as afterwash, parazo, liquid soap, yoghurt, floor cleaner, pain relief oil, and other essential household products.

Facilitated by an experienced business development consultant, Miss Miriam Mahama, the programme also introduced participants to key aspects of pricing, branding, and basic business management to ensure sustainability and growth.

According to Miss Mahama, the primary objective was to empower women and young people in particular to establish small businesses, strengthen household incomes, and reduce economic dependency.

At the end of the programme, participants were awarded Certificates of Participation in recognition of the skills acquired. On his part, Mr Aidoo noted that the certification is intended to enhance beneficiaries’ credibility when seeking partnerships, support, or business opportunities.

The entire programme — including facilitation, training materials, and certification — was fully sponsored by Hon. Aidoo at no cost to participants.

Community members who attended the training expressed appreciation for what they described as a practical intervention focused on empowerment rather than rhetoric.

Observers say the initiative reflects a broader development approach centred on capacity building, economic resilience, and sustainable livelihoods within the constituency.

Addressing residents, Hon. Aidoo indicated that the programme forms part of a long-term commitment to strengthening opportunities for local people.

“We believe empowerment should not wait for elections. It should begin now,” he stated, adding that investing in women and youth is key to building stronger households and a more resilient constituency.
